Project Overview
Chanel by the Shore was designed as a dual-purpose property, functioning both as a personal second home and a high-performing short-term rental investment. Located within a three-hour drive from D.C., the property was intentionally selected to support frequent personal use while maintaining strong income potential as a short-term rental.
The design vision moved away from the traditional, dated beach aesthetic commonly found in coastal markets. Instead, the home was positioned with a modern coastal identity that feels fresh, playful, and visually distinctive while remaining comfortable and welcoming for families, groups, and extended stays.
Design decisions were guided by both guest experience and listing performance. In a competitive coastal market, scroll-stopping visual impact was prioritized from the start, with layout, lighting, furnishings, and finishes selected to support strong photography, brand differentiation, and booking appeal.
Design Strategy
This home was designed for guests seeking a coastal experience that feels elevated but approachable. The target guest profile includes families, group travelers, professionals visiting the area for extended stays, and repeat visitors looking for comfort without sacrificing style.
Market analysis revealed a saturated landscape of traditional beach-themed interiors, creating a clear opportunity for visual differentiation. Rather than blending into the market, the strategy focused on standing out through a modern coastal aesthetic with a playful edge that feels intentional, design-forward, and memorable.
Performance goals were directly tied to booking behavior. The design prioritized:
Strong visual identity for listing photography
Scroll-stopping first-impression appeal
Comfort and livability for longer stays
Flexible spaces for work, rest, and gathering
Market differentiation to support pricing strength
The result is a property that performs as both a lifestyle home and a competitive STR asset.
